Pornography: Dealing with Negative Imagination.
The most destructive effect of pornography and any other illicit content is on the mind. The mind is always filled with pictures and imagination of what you fed it. Corrupt imagination kills the creativity of the mind and the ability to think critically. The same energy you are using to form pictures of illicit content can be channelled into productive thinking, hence the productivity of the individual is sabotaged. When the individual should be engaged and forming mental pictures of his or her desired future in God, illicit content would have taken a stronghold in the person’s mind. You may seek clarity on issues but your mind; thought process and imagination have been clouded with negative thoughts, practically creating a clog. It is difficult for the Holy Spirit to work through your thoughts and imagination in this way.
Breaking off the yoke is simple if you can stick to the pattern described by the scriptures. ‘This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. ‘ -Joshua 1:8. You need the word of God to break off that circle, only the word of God can fix that reality. In the next 30 days, I want you to read the scriptures out loud every day. Read the Books of John and Acts. You are to read at least 5 chapters daily. Read them over again when you complete them. After reading daily, spend 10 minutes meditating on what you read aloud, especially the parts that strike your spirit while reading. Pray in tongues for at least one hour. After praying in tongues, make confessions about what you want to use your imagination to do henceforth. Declare that the word of God becomes the building blocks of your imaginative process, and the Holy Spirit takes charge of it completely. After 30 days, keep your fellowship with the Holy Spirit. As you learn and grow spiritually, imaginations outside of the word of God will not be formed in your heart.
